This past weekend two members of the Parish Jazz Band, Sara and Chip, attended a music themed party in Beverly Farms, MA. The host did a great job setting up his garage as a stage. Sara (vocals) and Chip (sax) joined in an impromptu band with other guests (drums, keyboard, guitar, bass) and had a good time. Sara used the microphone that was provided for her, which unfortunately only worked sporatically; learning the hard way to always bring her own PA system. Pieces that were played included All of Me, Blue Monk, My Funny Valentine, and Girl from Ipanema. All in all it was a great idea for a party. What a way for guests to meet each other, share their interest in music and entertain themselves all at once! If all the people who had brought tamborines in their purses had been convinced to play them, the party might have caught the ears of the whole neighborhood. (:
